To play LOCKJAW on your own machine with a Microsoft Windows operating system, you need these files:
- LOCKJAW 0.45 (Windows, GBA, and DS binary)
Download the file and unzip it.
If you do not have Zip software on your computer, download and install the free 7-Zip archiver. If you get errors about a missing alleg42.dll, then make sure that you downloaded the Allegro 4.2.0 DLL package and unzipped alleg42.dll into the same folder as lj.exe.
As of version 0.26, a port to the Game Boy Advance handheld video game system is included, named lj.gba. Players with a Game Boy Advance or Nintendo DS system and a GBA Movie Player or other GBA flash card may also be interested in LOCKJAW: The Overdose, an earlier tetromino game from the same developer, whose primary gimmick is distortion of the playfield display.
As of version 0.30, a port to the Nintendo DS handheld video game system is included, named lj.nds. This is a more-or-less straight port of the GBA version, primarily intended for people with SLOT-1 DS flash cards that cannot run GBA homebrew.
As of version 0.37, the Allegro 4.2.1 DLL is included with the main binary distribution, and the source code is distributed as a separate package so as not to confuse users.
If you use a Macintosh computer with a PowerPC CPU and Mac OS X, try a port to Mac maintained by cdsboy. It is a much older version, and it may or may not work under Rosetta emulation on Macintosh computers with an Intel CPU. The author of the Windows version has not tested and does not support this version; please contact cdsboy on tetrisconcept.com forums with questions.
Skins
The file lj-contrib.zip contains extra ljbg.jpg, ljblocks.bmp, and bgm.s3m files for use with LOCKJAW software.
Versions
Replay movies (.ljm files) work only with the version of Lockjaw Engine with which they were recorded. LOCKJAW software will refuse to load a replay from a different version if Lockjaw Engine has been changed in a way that would cause the replay to fall out of sync. Semipermanent links to selected versions of LOCKJAW software are available here as long as server space permits. Versions prior to 0.37 do not include the Allegro 4.2.x DLL, which is included with the latest version.

LOCKJAW software is distributed subject to the terms of the GNU General Public License. If you distribute the binaries, you must also distribute (or offer to distribute) the corresponding source code, including the source code for the following libraries that are not distributed with the operating system and compiler. If you want to develop your own works based on LOCKJAW software, you will also need these files.

- Allegro 4.2.1 (Allegro Giftware license)
- JPGalleg 2.5 (zlib license)
- Music playback libraries (optional; change
ljmusic.hto disable libraries that you aren't using):- Ogg Container 1.1.3 and OggVorbis Codec 1.1.2 (BSD license)
